Stoner - a film by Michael Greene: Everybody must get stoned.

cast & crew

Michael Greene (Writer/Director/Actor) is an Austin filmmaker, whose last short film, Hey Mister, screened at the Austin Film Festival and Cinematexas, as well as the Hollywood Showcase in 2006. He graduated from UT in 2006 from the Department of Radio-Television-Film and faced a frightening reality: working for temp agencies. He decided to go as far away from Austin as he could and ended up teaching English in Korea. It turned out to be the best possible post-collegiate job for this native Texan, and an excellent adventure after all was said and done. While there, he wrote a feature script called Stoner, based on his college experiences. He returned to Austin in order to make the film, and the process is now complete. He is currently writing his second feature film.

Kerem Sanga (Producer/Actor) graduated from UT Austin. He now lives in Los Angeles and attends USC as an Annenberg Fellow in the graduate screenwriting program. Stoner is his first feature as a producer.

Charles Mulford (Producer) came to Austin in 2001 to study film at the University of Texas. After graduating in 2006 with a BS in Radio-Television-Film, he decided he loves this city far too much to relocate. He has been producing films for over three years now, with ten shorts and one feature under his belt. He continues to be very active on the Austin film scene. He recently completed his first feature-length screenplay, and hopes to produce it in the next couple of years.

Eddie Mathis (Actor) makes his acting debut in Stoner as Mark. He is currently in the Peace Corps. He is the lead singer and guitar player of The Wonderful Organization who recently released their second album. He and Dan Bui worked together to create original music for the film.

Dan Bui (not an Actor) is not an actor, nor does he aspire to be, though he does make his acting debut in Stoner. In addition to playing the character Dan, Dan also recorded music for the movie, providing the original score (a collaboration with Bach Bui and Tyler Pickens) and original songs (written with Eddie Mathis). He is a member of the The Wonderful Organization, an Austin-based band whose music can be heard throughout the film

Cyndi Williams (Actress) starred in Kyle Henry’s Room (Best Lead Actress nomination in the Independent Spirit Awards). Other films include Fourplay, The Brothers Overbrook, Eve’s Necklace, Deeper and Deeper (for which she wrote the screenplay), Temple Grandin, Javelina, The Cassidy Kids, Gretchen, Registered Sex Offender, and Stoner. She has written the American version of several Japanese animes, including Wedding Peach and Gatchaman, and performed as a voice actor in Wedding Peach, Magical Witchland, Petite Princess Yucie, and others. Cyndi is an award-winning playwright and a member of the Acting Company at Austin Playhouse.

Caitlin Rose (Actress) was raised in Beaumont, TX and moved to Austin when she was 18 to attend the University of Texas. After getting a degree in Apparel Design she decided to pursue her life long dream of being an actress and began to study her craft. As soon as Stoner wrapped Caitlin moved to Los Angeles where she resides and continues to study acting. She has worked on several different projects in the past year including a co-star role on the ABC Family show Make it or Break it.

Christina Spurgeon (Actress) moved to Austin in 2002 to attend UT Austin. After completing her degree in Education minoring in Theater and Dance, she jumped into the Austin school system teaching drama. Christina’s love for acting combined with some persuasion from a loved one inspired her to begin auditioning for films in May 2008. No one has been able to pull her from sets since. She is expecting a baby boy in January of 2010.

Billy MacCartney (Director of Photography) grew up in a small town near Huntsville, TX. Since moving to Austin in 2001, he has worked in nearly every department of film and video production, eventually deciding to focus on directing, cinematography and lighting. He is a proud member of Local 484 as an electrician and grip, and in his spare time he enjoys directing and shooting his own projects, playing drums for a local punk band and drinking an inhuman amount of coffee.

Alan Lampert (Production Designer) is an Austin, Texas production designer with a penchant for creative, smart, and informative design. He has extensive experience in the art department, having directed the design for a variety of environments including feature length narratives, short films, photography and commercial.
